Show your special someone you are thinking of them with a brightly colored bouquet of fresh flowers. Their pretty scent will fill the room with a cheery, summery feeling regardless of the season. Make your arrangement last longer with some quick advice from us at Fancies Flowers & Gifts.

Before placing your flowers in water, cut at least an inch off the bottom of each stem. Use sharp scissors to do this and cut at a 45 degree angle. Place the blooms in a vase filled with warm water and flower food for best results.

Flower Food

Create your own mix of flower food by combining sugar and vinegar. This mixture nourishes the blossoms while preventing the growth of bacteria. For every quart of warm water, dissolve 3 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar or white vinegar.

Just like it keeps your hair in place, hair spray can also keep your fresh cut flowers looking great! Spray a little bit on the underside of the petals and leaves for best results.

As blooms die, remove them from the vase to keep the rest of your flowers healthy. Also remove petals and leaves that have fallen into the water, changing it every few days to remain fresh. Flowers placed in a cool area out of direct sunlight tend to do better as well.
